Don't miss Mayor-Elect Marine's swearing-in TONIGHT @7 at Mukilteo City Hall!
Single-family homes...
Let's Keep Mukilteo a small town.
On July 19th, the Mukilteo City Council approved draft language to place on the November 2nd ballot.
Let's show our love for Mukilteo at the ballot box this November. Join me in voting NO against encouraging more high-density housing to be built in Mukilteo.
In June 2021, the city council passed an edited version of the Housing Action Policy (HAP) which calls for the end of prioritizing single-family lot sizes for unfettered high density mixed-use projects throughout Mukilteo and encourages incentives for developers.
...or unfettered high-density housing?
We are currently one of the only communities in Snohomish County that doesn't have a Park 'N Ride lot. Plans were made for a lot west of Paine Field on the Speedway, it unfortunately did not move forward. I am currently working with the partners involved in this project and to get it back on track.
"The 2016 capital budget programs $2.9 million to develop and construct the Mukilteo Park & Ride. This park and ride will be funded by a combination of local funds and state and local contributions."

We support Paine Field but need to protect our quality of life.
The highest and best use of Paine Field is preserving it for aerospace manufacturing.
I oppose Paine Field becoming the congested airport that Sea-Tac is.
Our Municipal Urban Growth Area (MUGA) has been set for many years. I have been a supporter of smart annexation because it allows us to control the growth around us.
For instance, the east side of the Mukilteo Speedway where the Azteca Restaurants and the Mukilteo Speedway Café are outside city limits.

During my time as Mayor, the we created tools on the city website for public access. These tools are no longer available to the public. The current official city website has no public archives or information prior to 2014.
As the 21st District State Representative, Joe was instrumental in transferring Lighthouse Park from the state to the city in 2001. As Mayor, the first phase of the renovations were started on the park in 2008.
After 16 years in a "temporary" warehouse location, we built a new, permanent city hall in 2008, designed to be environmentally friendly and economical. It was the first LEED Gold-certified building in Snohomish County.
After years of controversy and contentious debate, as Mayor, Joe convinced the City Council to bring the issue of renovation vs a new building to a vote of the people. A new, LEED Silver-certified Rosehill Community Center was opened in 2011.
In 2013, Joe left the city with $1,000,000 in the emergency fund and almost 40% of operating expenses in reserves.
